PALAZZOTTO STROMBOLI
Located halfway between the main town and the beaches of Piscità, this 19th-century townhouse is located right along the road, just a short stroll from the water’s edge. Standing out against the simpler more provincial houses on the island, Palazzotto Stromboli’s ornate construction and refined details are a testament to the noble origin of the Southern Italian family who settled in the island and commissioned the building of the villa more than two centuries ago.
The award-winning Milanese architects Luciano Giorgi and Antonino Burgo, entrusted with the renovation of the villa, chose to maintain Palazzotto Stromboli’s original structure, while simultaneously working on the interiors to give them a more pared-down, modern aesthetic.
Built on two levels against a slope, the villa’s configuration allows direct access to both floors from the outside.
The ground floor, formerly an old bakery, has been completely redesigned to optimise its connection to the upper floors, and its historical elements have been reinterpreted with a contemporary update.
The first floor features traditional vaulted ceilings, majolica floors, and superb views of the sea from three sides. There is a sitting room and a dining area with a traditional ‘'strombolana’ kitchen, equipped with a fully functioning brick-built wood-fired oven. A large projection room opens onto the street, and on the other side two bedrooms overlook the garden. Two additional bedrooms are located upstairs. Double doors lead to a lovely outdoor patio, with a teak deck from which to enjoy the enchanting panorama of Stromboli.
Below the patio, an old cistern with vaulted barrel ceilings has been transformed into a charming hot tub for relaxing baths. The villa is surrounded by a lush Mediterranean garden, while the rooftop doubles as a lounge and sun deck, offering breathtaking panoramic views spanning the sea, the volcano, and the beautiful San Vincenzo church.
